Karnataka SET Exam Date & Scheme 2021
The test will be consisting of two papers. Both the papers will consist of only objective type Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). The test will be held on 25 July 2021 in two separate sessions as mentioned below.
Paper-I: Shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks. The questions which will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
Paper-II: Shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I and Paper-II on the Optical Marks Reader (OMR) Sheet provided along with the test booklet.

KSET – Scheme of Evaluation
The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks in aggregate of all two papers (Paper-I & Paper-II) for eligibility for Assistant Professor as given below.
- General [GM]: 40% Aggregate marks in all the two papers taken together.
- SC / ST / CAT-I / II A / II B / III A / III B / PWD: 35% Aggregate marks in all the two papers taken together.
a) The number of candidates to be qualified (total slots) for Eligibility for Assistant Professors shall be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both the papers of KSET-2021.
b)The total slots arrived, amongst those candidates who have appeared in all two papers and cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the two papers secured by such candidates. In order to be considered for ‘Eligibility for Assistant Professor’, the candidate must have appeared in both the papers and secured at least 40% aggregate marks taken together for General (Unreserved) category candidates and at least 35% aggregate marks taken together for all candidates belonging to the reserved categories (viz., Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, SC, ST, PWD) (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer).
c)According to UGC’s directive, 6% of the appearing candidates are to be declared qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor only [Appearing means appeared in all two papers of SET]. The reservation policy prevalent in the State is to be used to compute the category-wise qualifying slots available for eligibility for Assistant Professor. The subject-wise and category-wise distribution of qualifying slots will be calculated by using the formula mentioned below:
